LINCOLNVILLE THRU TIME
|
Lincolnville Thru Time is a collection of photographs taken in the historically African American neighborhood of Lincolnville in St. Augustine. I’ve been photographing Lincolnville since the mid-90’s and in my mind I can remember the experience of taking each photograph. When I walk through the neighborhood now I visualize what these places looked like in that moment and how it has, or has not changed. The images focus on light and form, often creating tableaus that evoke the neighborhood’s intangible character. There are no people in the photographs but the evidence of them furthers the perception of a memory. The photographs were shot on film using a medium-format camera. The formation of this body of work was supported by a grant from the Community Foundation of North East Florida.
